Walking - it ain't for sissies

I’m not afraid to admit it – walking is kicking my butt.

Something I do every day is totally and completely wearing me out, making me short of breath, giving me blisters, and making my legs sore.

Not too mention my feet.

Oh my feet!  They hurt.  They sting.  They curse me for having walked.

I have never been so familiar with what First Aid is available for blisters.
(Target has the best generic blister cover aids, BTW)

Granted, I walked 8 miles on Friday.  Followed by 13.7 miles Saturday morning. Then another 8 miles Sunday morning.

My training calls for another 5 or 7 miles thrown in once or twice during the week.

And at least one day of strength training somewhere in there, too.

Oh – and the miles increase each week.  So next Saturday I will be shooting for 14 miles, then the Saturday after, 15 miles, and so on.

I mean, this is a little more than normal.

YUPPERS – in training for the Susan G Komen 3 Day Event.  In November, my best bud JM and I will be walking 60 miles over 3 days.

Check out more info about the Susan G Komen 3 Day here.

What is REALLY starting to bother me, though, is that during the week when I get home and try to go for a walk (at 6 in the evening!) it is still so hot that Wylie C cannot go with me – the asphalt/concrete will burn his little tootsies.  (yes, it is that hot – and it sucks)  (and yes, it STAYS that hot, which sucks even more)

whoa - looks like we're getting a COLD FRONT on Thursday!

Have I mentioned recently that hubs and I cannot WAIT to move to Portland?  Their forecasted high this week has been 88 degrees.  And that’s with sun.

so jealous.......

Um, yeah – we’re supposed to hit 109 on Sunday.

This is freakin ridiculous, people.

I mean, how are people supposed to walk around in that kind of heat?
